11 May, 2011
Submitted: 17 May, 2013
Through your physical activity pledges you will be working with employees, customers/consumers and/or local communities. For each group (as applicable) please describe the specific activities or projects you have undertaken over the past year.
For example, employee incentive schemes to promote physical activity, awareness raising activities or improvements to facilites to promote active travel.
We are passionate about the positive difference cycling makes to individuals, communities, our nations and the environment. We promote a compelling vision of cycling for the future and we will grow as cycling grows.
With our partner organisation Please Cycle we have introduced an incentivised, web based workplace challenge opportunity which encourages cyclists to get on their bikes, commute by bike, and all in the safest possible and most supportive fashion.
Insurance is not only an important component of our membership offer; it is an opportunity for CTC to protect the workplace community and others. We continually improve the offer, adding new products and publicising our provision to encourage cycling participation in the safest possible manner.
For example, supporting/sponsoring local physical activity programmes, promoting physical activity to customers through website campaigns or in-store materials.
CTC partcipated in the Active Travel Launch of the Travel Actively Report at Westminster in April.
Please visit www.ctc.org.uk to review all of the physical activity programmes arranged by CTC.
For example, support for community-based physical activity programmes (such as funding, sponsorship or other promotion activity), working with local partners to engage communities is physical activity opportunities.
CTC continue to support physical activity programmes through their locally hosted, cycling development officer activity.
We deliver cycling for health activity programmes in Leicester, Hampshire, Sheffield, Leeds, Swindon, Colchester and the Greater Manchester area.
Please estimate the number of your employees who report they are regularly using active modes of travel and explain how you arrived at this estimate.
50 - A recognised and well utilsed method of travel, all but a few of our employees are lifestyle cyclists.
Has the number of your employees using active modes of travel increased since last year? If unkwown, please explain why:
No - Our numbers due to redundancies (shortfall in Government funding)
Our total employee figure percentage remains consistent at about 90% of employess.
If your active travel pledge activities have focused on customers or local communities, have you observed or measured any increases in active travel in these groups? If yes, please provide details and where you have been able to measure this please explain how you arrived at this estimate.
We would be interested to know if your pledge activity over the last year has delivered a measurable increase in participation in physical activity. If so, please describe and provide an estimate of the level of increase and how you measured this. There is a 2000-character limit when completing this section.
Extrapolation of figures from our pre-cursor activities evaluated by the centre for local economic studies CLES.
For our community based activities a figure of 333 participants noted an increase in their physical activity levels.
