P4. Physical Activity in the Workplace
1 January, 2013
Submitted: 30 April, 2015
Through your physical activity pledges you will be working with employees, customers/consumers and/or local communities. For each group (as applicable) please describe the specific activities or projects you have undertaken over the past year.
For example, employee incentive schemes to promote physical activity, awareness raising activities or improvements to facilites to promote active travel.
The Association continues to offer subsidised gym membership to staff and six staff members continue to take advantage of this. Staff have the flexibility to exercise when convenient during the day and are encouraged to work physical activity into their working day as much as possible.
A number of staff continue to cycle to work having taken advantage of the Cycle to Work scheme in previous years and another has made use of the scheme in the last year. Flexible working is considered to allow staff to exercise.
The BBPA annual staff activity outing in 2014 was to Stroud, where eight members of staff did a 12 mile walk. The Association contributes to the cost of this outing in order to encourage physical activity.
For example, supporting/sponsoring local physical activity programmes, promoting physical activity to customers through website campaigns or in-store materials.
For example, support for community-based physical activity programmes (such as funding, sponsorship or other promotion activity), working with local partners to engage communities is physical activity opportunities.
Please estimate the number of your employees who participated in your workplace physical activity programmes over the last year and explain how you arrived at this estimate.
Six staff members benefit from subsidised gym membership, one has benefited from the cycle to work scheme and eight attended the staff outing which included a 12 mile walk therefore the majority of the majority of staff have participated in some form of physical activity supported by BBPA in the last year.
Has the number of your employees participating in your workplace physical activity programmes increased since last year? If unknown, please explain why.
The number of staff participating in workplace supported physical activity has declined slightly from the previous year.
We would be interested to know if your pledge activity over the last year has delivered a measurable increase in participation in physical activity. If so, please describe and provide an estimate of the level of increase and how you measured this. There is a 2000-character limit when completing this section.
