H3. Health & Wellbeing Report
1 January, 2013
Submitted: 30 April, 2015
Please describe how you report on the health and wellbeing of your employees, including annual sickness rates
Our Annual Sustainability Report, published in September 2014, continued to include Health & Wellbeing data for our employees. The report, covering the period Jan-December 2013, included the following information directly related to Health & Wellbeing:
Absence – Our absence performance 2013 was directly reported (3.33%) and an upward trend was identified vs 2012. It was believed to be due to better reporting of absence as the programme of absence management training for people managers was rolled out across the business.
Responsible Alcohol Consumption - Cool@Work is our internal alcohol awareness programme which aims to educate colleagues about responsible consumption. Our Sustainability Report for 2013 described the internal initiatives to promote understanding of responsible consumption amongst colleagues, including setting new standards in place, provision of information & training for all new colleagues.
Our utilisation of the Occupational service was optimised in 2014, including measurement of compliance with Health Surveillance requirements, total number of absence referrals and provision of wellness checks to promote good health amongst all our colleagues. The focus of the service continues to evolve, with a stronger emphasis on health promotion whilst maintaining ongoing support for colleagues suffering acute or chronic illness.
In 2015 we continue to place health and wellbeing related benefits prominently within our benefits package as a whole including:
• Cycle to Work scheme; discounted rates for gym memberships; income Protection Policy for eligible colleagues on long term sickness absence for 52 weeks or more and who meet the incapacity definition as outlined in our Policy; Employee Assistance Programme for colleagues providing confidential counselling and advice. This service now includes provision for qualifying family members.
We continue to provide established health related benefits to colleagues (where eligible) such as private medical insurance
