A4. Tackling Under-Age Alcohol Sales

MS takes its responsibilities to prevent the sale of alcohol to minors extremely seriously. For several years we operated a Challenge 21, and more recently a Challenge 25 policy in all our stores, where anyone appearing under the age of 25 will be challenged at till point and have to provide an acceptable form of ID before they are able to purchase alcohol. This policy is communicated in posters throughout stores. All employees undergo training on this policy, including an induction training and six-monthly refresher course and are reminded every time they scan an age-restricted product by a till prompt.
