1 January, 2013
Submitted: 30 July, 2015
Please decribe how you and your caterers have encouraged healthier restaurants/vending outlet/buffets (as applicable) for your staff over the last year. There is a 2000-character limit when completing this section.
Since the pledge was last update (2012) there has been a vast amount of work has gone into a healthier staff restaurant.
Menus are reviewed and plan with the Trust Dietetic team.
-There is a healthy option on the main menu every day, all sandwiches and salads are dressed with low calorie mayo or dressings.
-Fresh fruit is readily available as is free water.
-There has been a significant shift from pre package frozen food to in house freshly prepared and cooked food. This helps with managing Salt and sugar contents of the food.
- Fresh Juice is competitively priced to make it a good option compared to Fizzy Drinks.
In addition to the restaurant, the Trust has purchased a healthy option only vending machine, with cereal bars, dried fruit, popcorn being made available to staff, as well as increased healthier options within its established vending machines across the Trust.
The catering department supports the Trust annual Health and Wellbeing Day, provide water and fruit etc. to all visitors.
Healthy Christmas communication to all staff about how to prepare and cook healthier Christmas meals
To maintain the healthy options and ensure staff can see the approximate calorie content of the meals to make an informed choice.
Link in with the Healthy work place pledge, with regards supporting activities and themed awareness raising events e.g. Hydration week.
