Please describe what you have done to fund and/or support the activities of local alcohol partnership schemes in Local Alcohol Action Areas (2000 characters limit):
Since the announcement by the Home Office of the 20 Local Alcohol Action Areas, we have worked to support the work that local authorities are pursuing in these areas in a number of ways.
Through our involvement in the Social Responsibility Alliance to bring together the relevant partnership schemes, we have sought to support the work being done by the schemes in these areas, as well as the additional project on evaluation to measure better the impact that the schemes are having in local areas.
As BBPA has written to Local Alcohol Action Areas offering support from the association and member companies in developing local action plans and alcohol strategies, as well as in rolling out specific projects or initiatives which need the buy-in of the trade. We have also offered responsible retailing materials to the areas including our Challenge 21 posters, unit awareness materials, posters highlighting the law around serving drunks and our guidance for licensees that we have developed on a whole range of legislative and operational issues.
As BBPA we have been directly involved in the consultation process around the work, that Greater Manchester are doing, and we were also a participant in the Halton Council alcohol inquiry which was part of their work to develop their local strategy.
