P4. Physical Activity in the Workplace

Committed since:

13 November, 2013

Delivery plan:

Submitted: 15 January, 2014

DISC will aim to raise the awareness of fitness and exercise as an integral part of staff welfare within the organisation. We commit to running internal exercise sessions and supporting staff to build a network of like minded individuals who promote the benefits of fitness and exercise across the organisation to their peers.

We will promote inclusivity around fitness and explore a range of local fitness and exercise sessions and try and remove barriers to those less active by facilitating opportunities for groups to engage together. We will encourage people to try new things and this will include developing an ‘exercise library’ where people can donate unused fitness equipment and people can loan the items to take home and try new things.

As part of our goal to help people realise their fitness potential, we commit to organising a fitness challenge in 2014 to encourage people to step outside of their comfort zone and achieve something they never thought possible. This will be supported through group training sessions in preparation for the challenge that people can engage with even if not participating.
