1. Please indicate if partially hydrogenated vegetable oil (p-HVO) used as an ingredient has been removed from all your products/menu items/SKUs?
2. Please indicate if the level of trans fats in oil and fats used in the preparation of food e.g. frying oil, is limited to a maximum of 2%?
3. When will this reformulation be completed?
Elior UK is a leading national contract caterer, providing a variety of catering services to workplaces, schools, care homes, retail outlets, sports stadia and heritage sites.
Nutrition is a vital part of Elior's commitment to having world class resources in every area. We place huge importance on not only the responsible and sustainable delivery of healthy, safe, great value food services, but also supporting the health and wellbeing of our staff and customers.
Our Nutrition and Dietetic and Purchasing teams have reviewed all products procured from our suppliers in order to ensure that any items that still contain artificial trans fats is de-listed and suitable alternatives are sourced instead. The vast majority of our suppliers have removed artificial trans fats from their products, and ongoing reformulation by food manufacturers means that nearly all of our purchased foods are free from artificial trans fats. We specify on all of our tender documentation that that procured foods must be free of artificial trans fats.
The oils and fats we use in the preparation of food all contain less than 2% total trans fat (excluding sources of fat from ruminent animals).
