A7(a). Community Actions to Tackle Alcohol Harms

Please describe how you have supported local community activity to tackle alcohol's social and health harms, over the last year (2000 characters limit):
Molson Coors supports our on and off trade customers raise standards in the retailing and consumption of alcohol via our partnership and funding of responsible retailing schemes, namely Best Bar None (BBN) and Community Alcohol Partnerships (CAP).
The aim of BBN is to promote and develop a national awards scheme for licensed premises across the UK, building on good practice and leading to an enhanced customer experience and a safer environment.
The scheme is delivered locally by active partnerships between the industry, local authorities and police. Best Bar None is being reinvigorated in 2014/15 with the appointment of a new National Coordinator and a new office administrator, its direction is established and its activity indicates further progress this year and onwards.
No fewer than 7 areas that have recently expressed interest in developing a BBN scheme (Swansea, Bishops Stortford, Bath & North-West Somerset, Hertford & Ware, Aberystwyth & Gwynedd) and the National team are working closely with partners in these areas.
Best Bar None is developing the London project, run in partnership with the Metropolitan Police and the Deputy Mayor’s office. It is intended that all 32 London Boroughs will progressively each launch and operate a dedicated scheme within their own area.
Best Bar None continues to work very closely with its sponsors and with partners in the Social Responsibility Alliance (SRA) supporting other initiatives in the SRA when and where required.
CAP schemes determine their own action plans and typically will deliver as part of the CAP project any or all of the following: diversionary activity and outreach work for under 18s; enforcement activity; retailer training; alcohol education for young people; teacher training; parent education/campaigns; locally tailored campaigns designed to raise awareness of the laws on underage/proxy purchase and penalties.
