What is the pledge?
Long Term Medical Conditions
We will embed the principles of the chronic conditions guides (developed through the Responsibility Deal's health at work network) within HR policy and procedures.
We will ensure that those employees suffering from long term medical conditions are supported at work and managed in the best way possible.
We will offer employees reasonable flexibilities and workplace adjustments where required and practicable.
We will encourage and support employees in achieving an optimum level of health and wellbeing, a positive work-life balance to assist them within undertaking, sustaining their employment within NHS England.
What does it set out to achieve?
To improve the general awareness of long term medical conditions, types and sign-posting toward support networks, agencies available toward supporting condition management
To review the support NHS England provides for employees with long-term/chronic conditions (such as diabetes, cancer and heart disease), and consider how this support may help them stay in work or return to work following sickness absence.
To facilitate, access to awareness, support services and where required intervention attendance
How will we achieve it?
Introduce a supporting attendance at work policy - outlining practical guidance on supporting staff with long term medical condition
Sign post managers to guidance offered toward supporting staff
Sign post employees to guidance toward improved self -management
Make reasonable work and /or workplace adjustments for employees that will enable them to stay in work or return sooner.
Promote the supporting attendance at work policy via induction, internal communications campaign and PDR sessions
Monitor and evaluate support offered: Matrix TBC
