Elior UK is a leading national contract caterer, providing a variety of catering services to workplaces, schools, care homes, retail outlets, sports stadia and hertitage sites, and employing approximately 10,000 staff including casual labour.Elior UK aims to encourage all its employees to maximise their attendance at work. It is recognised, however, that a certain level of sickness absence is inevitable. It is the company's policy to support employees at all sites who are genuinely sick and unable to come to work.Elior UK meets this pledge through actively engaging within our employees who are experiencing long-term ill health, including chronic illnesses. Support is provided by the human resources department through training and practical guides that enable managers to deal with issues sensitively and work on practical solutions. These include undertaking welfare visits, and working with the employee to understand limitations that the condition mean in practice. We view ongoing communication with the employee as the key to understanding whether reasonable adjustments or changes in the working pattern can facilitate a return to the workplace. As required, occupational health assessments are also conducted in order that the entire picture is known and the most reasonable solutions may be proposed.
