H3. Health & Wellbeing Report
1 January, 2013
Submitted: 21 April, 2015
Please describe how you report on the health and wellbeing of your employees, including annual sickness rates
We continue to roll-out enhanced system functionality to record and report colleague absence dates and reasons, and reports are regularly run to ensure that HR and Operations teams have greater visibility of the underlying reasons for absence and can respond accordingly.
Elior UK is proud to have once again been named as one of the Sunday Times Top 25 Best Big Companies to work for in 2015, and is ranked at number 21 in the current list. Colleague Wellbeing is an important individual factor in the survey and we are particularly pleased that in this area we are placed at number 7, which is a real testament to the importance we place on this area.
In addition to this, our Safety and Wellbeing team launched an internal stress awareness programme in 2013 to support both Line Managers and colleagues in managing, what can be, difficult situations. All line managers within the company have been trained in recognising the symptoms of stress within their teams, and stress awareness/management leaflets have been sent to every Elior colleague. Our Head of Safety & Wellbeing has continued to address this issue and drive awareness by presenting on the topic at regional management events, and a variety of information is readily available to Managers via the Company extranet.
Elior UK’s annual sickness rate is 4%. Externally published reports are not made relating to colleague health and wellbeing, as a company we produce monthly management reports with specific action plans to reverse negative trends / highlight concerns by region / division. We also hold wellbeing sessions at company conferences and senior leaders meetings and all colleagues have access to a free 24 hours colleague support line.
In addition, we have held diabetes awareness days in association with Diabetes UK, where colleagues have been able to find out more about the condition and voluntarily receive an assessment and check.
