The Midcounties Co-operative has achieved this pledge through the following;The Midcounties Co-operative is committed to challenge 25. Challenge 25 means that our staff will check the age of any customer buying alcohol if they look under 25.We organise training for colleagues working in our food stores to improve their understanding of Challenge 25Systems have been put in place at checkouts to prompt staff to ask for appropriate forms of identification when an age-restricted product is scanned for purchase. In order to continue with the transaction the staff must manually input the age they believe the customer to be.Since 1st July 2009 all of our staff in our food stores have to sign a 1-2-1 age restricted agreement adhering to challenge 25. Furthermore, they receive a training booklet as well as training cards. A weekly refusal log is also in place where each refused sale is logged by the different employees.In addition, Midcounties have had the following campaigns across its sites:Challenge 25 posters and policy across all sites;Leaflet distribution across our trading area showcasing the challenge 25 message and promoting DrinkawareIn store plasma screen messages relating to the Challenge 25Partnership work to promote the Challenge 25 message and Drinkaware with Gloucestershire policePlasma screen messages promoting Challenge 25 messagesPartnerships set up to promote the Challenge 25 campaign, including Gloucestershire police.
