JD Wetherspoon continued to fund National Pubwatch in 2011 and is committed to do so in 2012. In addition the company provides a member of its senior management team to sit on the organisation's national committee.The company also makes available specialist resources to the organisation such as legal advice from its in-house team. At local level, our premises continues to instigate and support Pubwatch schemes where they have not previously existed or are in need of additional impetus.The company was actively involved in Best Bar None on a national level in 2011 and one of the company's Directors sits on its Board. At local level, our pubs continue to partcipate in local Best Bar Nones with a high degree of success.We have agreed part sponsorship of several schemes to offset decreased funding from local authorities and police due to current spending constraints.The company sees the encouragment of thriving town and city centres as crucial.we are involved in 68 seperate bid schemes and support purple flag initiatives likewise. Apart from the above schemes, many of our pubs are involved in smaller scale local iniatives such as for example Braintree Council's "Keep Safe" campaign and the "Safe Places Scheme" run in Devon and Cornwall.
