Submitted: 20 August, 2012

1. We will encourage a year on year increase in market share for reduced calorie (or reduced fat) dairy products in line with DHs menu of options. This will include reducing the fat and portion size of products, or giving reduced calorie (or reduced fat) dairy products greater marketing focus.2. We will encourage our members to sign up individually to the DHs Calorie Reduction Pledge and deliver outputs which increase the market share for reduced calorie (or reduced fat) dairy products.3. We will estimate market share data for reduced calorie (or reduced fat where this delivers calorie reductions) milk and cheese on an annual basis.4. We will establish a forum of the major dairy companies to meet on a regular basis with DH to review progress.5. We will provide information to health professionals and consumers on the importance of dairy products to a healthy balanced diet and how action can be taken to reduce their calorie intake6. For health professionals we will produce information on the availability and benefits of lower calorie options in the context of a balanced diet and an active lifestyle7. For consumers we will provide information on the availability and benefits of consuming lower calorie dairy foods as a part of a healthy balanced diet in order to maintain a healthy weight and promote well being.8. We will promote the Responsibility Deal in meetings with our members.9. Dairy UK will publish annually a report on The Dairy Council activities, and on its members various activities which support and enable their customers to eat and drink fewer calories. This annual report will include an impact assessment and case studies to assist in spreading good practices.10. The first annual report will be published in spring 2013.
