After a period of reactive HR and little investment in its people, the Company has moved away from to a more proactive, commercial way of working, to re-engage its employees on the journey of developing a healthier workforce.
Wise & Well – wellbeing awareness project. This involves a monthly event, such as free fruit for employees, or a charity event; raising awareness of looking after themselves i.e. wear it red for the British Heart Foundation, or a smoothie bike to encourage fitness and healthy drinks. BBGR has successfully implemented this initiative for the 2nd year running.
Travel Plan – grant awarded by Centro for improving sustainable travel and improving health of employees. We now have a new cycle shelter, and walking & cycling leads who run events such as lunch-time walks. BBGR will continue to engage with employees and schedule various events throughout the year.
Health Care Benefits – We have a number of benefits to our employees so they can make healthy living choices, these range from; Incorpore discounted Gym benefits; free annual eye tests for all employees; and eye care voucher benefits for friends and family; ability to purchase bikes though the payroll. Health cash plans and free flu injections for all employees
Absence and returning to work – We have a robust absence management process and work closely with Occupational Health in making reasonable adjustments to accommodate employees as much as reasonably practicable. BBGR has gone above and beyond with sickness absence benefits and reasonable adjustments in the workplace in some cases. We will continue to monitor and manage sickness absence and are consulting with managers on the effectiveness of the policy.
Stress and Wellbeing Policy
BBGR recognises that stress can adversely affect the performance at work, and therefore, impact upon the commercial success of the business as well as employees personal health. BBGR wishes to reduce stress as far as is reasonably practicable, and this policy seeks to achieve this by helping employees to identify the signs of stress, and offering practical advice on what action to take if they think you might be suffering from stress. BBGR will also reinforce stress awareness through the Wise and Well project.
