Please describe how you report on the health and wellbeing of your employees, including annual sickness rates
Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust has a clear strategic commitment to promoting the health and wellbeing of our workforce to ensure they can fulfill work, personal and family commitments and ambitions whilst enhancing organisational performance. Active management of sickness absence and transparent public reporting on the health and wellbeing of our staff are key elements of this. Sickness absence is recorded and monitored centrally and through the NHS-wide electronic staff record can be benchmarked against similar organisations. The electronic staff record captures sickness absence against a staff member's record, including the dates which the staff member was absent the reason for their absence. Absence rates are calculated by running a report through the Electronic Staff Record, which divides the number of days lost to sickness absence by the total number of available working days, and then multiplies this figure by 100 to give a percentage. Organisation-wide targets have been established to reduce sickness absence year on year. Sickness absence rates and reasons are reported at a Trust and unit level on a monthly basis and this data is reviewed by both HR and operational managers to develop appropriate action plans . The Sickness, Absence and Employee Wellbeing Policy was introduced in January 2013 and reviewed in 2015 to ensure that staff are appropriately supported and that sickness is actively managed. Training for managers is part of our managers skills programme. Our Annual Reports include a report on the activities of our Health and Wellbeing Steering Group and the development of our health and wellbeing programme, as well as key figures such as staff sickness absence levels.
