16 September, 2014
Submitted: 2 April, 2015
Please describe how you have encourged your staff to stop smoking and reduced other risks in the workplace to respiratory health over the last year. There is a 2000 character limit when completing this section.
As an Organisation we are committed to supporting our staff to stop smoking. We have provided a 'Quit Club' support for staff to come together to learn about cessation techniques. We have supplied Nicotine Replacement Therapy at cost price from our pharmacies.
The Stop Smoking professional leads welcome self referrals from Staff Members.
Our Policy on Smoke free site, encourages staff to seek support to stop smoking. It also ensures that the hospital building and grounds are smoke free to again support cessations, and remove temptation to smoke.
The Trust actively supports national events such as the 'No Smoking Day' and the 'Stoptober' event.
Infomation about smoking cessation is available in wards and departments, and specifically in the Occupation Health Department to target and inform staff members.
Whilst directed towards patients, we have also trained 40 staff in advanced quit techniques, that can be used to support other staff in their quit attempts.
