At Laing O'Rourke, we have a holistic approach to health and wellness, based around the Central safety team and company management system, supported by an occupational health service, employee assistance programme, in-house NLP/CBT facility, occupational hygiene partnerships (Sypol, 3M), a drugs and alcohol policy, work specific manual handling programme, and rehabilitation support service.
We help employees make informed decisions about a healthy lifestyle, through an Occupational Health Screening programme in partnership with our Occupational Health Service Provider who screen an average of 360 employees per month. This screening meets legislative requirements for health surveillance and extends to a full health “MOTâ€, during which health issues relating to diet and the individuals life style are discussed.
Available to all employees (with additional BUPA benefits for staff) the OH service undertakes new starter and annual medicals, and is supported by a Company Doctor, H&S Campaigns (specifically on identified risks -HAVS, manual handling, Drugs & Alcohol etc) plus ongoing delivery of a range of Tool-Box-Talks on health related topics.
Our screening and behavioural based safety programmes, and our risk assessment process for all activities, highlight key health and safety issues. The workforce is encouraged to raise any issues or concerns that they have that may not have already been identified through the above.
Standards of welfare provision are exceptionally high with temporary welfare being provided through our in-house company “Select Plantâ€. Consistence High standards are achieved / sustained through the use of an Office H&S Plan template (including risk assessment on access, space, lighting, heating, ventilation etc) and Site H&S Plan (including arrangements for access, hygiene facilities, storage of personal clothes etc) all of which ensures our workplaces are an healthy environment in which to work..
