H7. Mental Health and Wellbeing

Committed since:

16 September, 2014

Delivery plan:

Submitted: 24 October, 2014

We have already commenced 'Resilience Training', piloting this approach throughout the Summer of 2014 via our Health Psychology team, before committing to a longer term programme of events leading up to Spring 2015. In parallel, we are launching sessions for line managers to enable them to hold conversations with staff where they have identified the potential signs of a mental illness. The funding for these sessions has been agreed through the trust Education, Learning and Development Committee and if required, a bid for further funding will be considered for the next financial year commencing April 2015.These sessions will enable managers to signpost staff to internal and external resources.

As an organisation we are also signing up to the 'Time to Talk' campaign and will be developing an action plan for submission by the middle of November 2014, details of which will be updated to this site. We will continue with our risk assessment approach to identifying areas of the organisation where the conditions for stress may exist and will use a variety of data sets to inform this, including staff survey data, employee turnover, sickness, appraisal and mandatory training completion. These will be reviewed again in February 2015 and data will be shared with managers. In particular we will review reasons for sickness on a divisional and organisational basis quarterly with a strong focus on sickness caused by stress. We will continue to publicise our efforts to staff throughout the remainder of 2014 and 2015 through a series of articles/blogs with a view to de-stigmatising mental health issues.
