Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust remains committed to providing the best possible quality of services and care for the people it serves. Being the best employer is one of the organisation’s key strategic themes and is central to our vision and values of Caring for you.
The Trust continues to have and develop a Health and Well-being (HWB) strategy and action plan for all employees.
The health and well-being action plan is reported on regularly to the Trust board via HR Committee.
Work has been undertaken to reduce risk of musculo skeletal injuries by targeted training to areas with higher risks, higher reported levels of injuries and sickness associated with MSK conditions. A bariatric study day was also arranged involving a number of different groups and people e.g. ambulance service, mortuary staff, physiotherapy to look at this topic from a variety of aspects
Mental Health in the workplace remains a key focus. Emotional resilience training continues and awareness sessions on mental health in the workplace has been provided to a number of areas.
Health promotion campaigns and events have been delivered on a number of topics including Stoptober, Men's Health week, Healthy Heart, cancer. These events have reached a number of employees and visitors and increased awareness of these issues. The Trust was successful in gaining North East Better Health at Work award Gold Level in December 2014.
