H4. Healthier Staff Restaurants

Please decribe how you and your caterers have encouraged healthier restaurants/vending outlet/buffets (as applicable) for your staff over the last year. There is a 2000-character limit when completing this section.
There is not a dedicated staff restaurant in the Trust. In 2014 the garden restaurant has been refurnished and includes a relaxation area with large sofas for staff to have their breaks in an improved relaxed environment. There has also been an increase in the number of healthy food options for staff, patients and visitors.
A monitor screen to display healthy food options has been erected by the food serving counter.
There is fresh fruit and a wide variety of salads including oily fish available daily.
The vending machines also have healthier options on display and this includes sugar free drinks.
A water container facility linked to mains water is available in the restaurant.
Costa have opened an outlet close to the main entrance of the Trust and this has been very popular for patients and staff.
There are plans to install water coolers in all wards to ensure that staff have access to drinking water during their busy shifts.
