ACS represents over 33,500 local shops and plays an important role in providing advice and support to the trade. As a pledge supporter ACS will:- provide information through our website, events and direct communications to retailers and wholesalers operating in the convenience sector about the pledge and the ways that retailers can support it being achieved- seek to promote dialogue between producers and retailers to ensure that all parties are aware of initiatives being undertaken as part of the pledge and the reasons for them. - to provide advice and guidance to individual retail companies on how to put in place policies in their own business that will support the objective to remove 1 billion units of alcohol from the market- continue to promote support for the pledge to larger retail companies and wholesalers in the convenience sector so they can understand the value and importance of the pledgeA number of ACS member companies have signed up to this pledge directly and have made a series of specific pledges concerning their business activities. ACS is limited in the scope of its activities because it is a trade association and not a business directly involved in buying selling or marketing alcohol. Also as a trade association ACS is limited by competition law in the scope of what it can get its members to agree. ACS role is to promote awareness of the deal and the means by which retailers can play their part.
