H2. Occupational Health Standards

Submitted: 7 November, 2013
Balfour Beatty Construction Services UK outsource occupational health services to third party providers, and we are currently in the final stages of tendering for Occupational Health Services.
As a Responsibility Deal partner, Construction Services UK included a requirement that Occupational Health providers had to provide evidence of Safe Effective Quality Occupational Health Service (SEQOHS) accreditation as well as sign up to Construction Better Health (CBH).
Services will deliver both occupational health and wellbeing, through comprehensive occupational health and wellbeing services, EAP – counselling and advice, physiotherapy and Drug and Alcohol screening services.
The contracts are due to be awarded in late November and the successful providers will be expected and required to maintain accreditation, this will be monitored by Construction Services UK and referenced using the list of accredited health providers.
Going forward the need to have SEQOHS and CBH membership will be specified as a minimum requirement for Occupational Health Services tendered.
To encourage our contractors and supply chain members to sign up to the Responsibility Deal pledges, we will review the way we award contracts in the future so specific weighting is given towards those organisations who can demonstrate that they have signed up to Construction Better Health and who have signed up to Responsibility Deal pledges.
