DWP is meeting this pledge as follows: - DWP HR policies and procedures meet/demonstrate the principles of the chronic conditions guide by providing reasonable flexibilities and workplace adjustments for employees with chronic conditions. Examples of these are: - reasonable adjustments (either permanent or temporary) at work, including adjustments to workspace, flexible working patterns, or authorising part time attendance on medical grounds. DWP's occupational health service provides advice on dealing with a long-term medical conditions at work. DWP's employee assistance programme supports employees when they have health (and other) problems. DWP has clear procedures for keeping in touch when employees are on sick leave. In addition, DWP has a health and wellbeing intranet site which offers information and links to useful information on a number of chronic health conditions. The Occupational Health site hosts a wide range of health information leaflets on long-term conditions. A nursing help desk is available to managers during office hours. DWP raises awareness of chronic conditions through its intranet news pages, for example musculoskeletal conditions, diabetes, asthma, and mental health conditions. Our senior occupational health doctor gives regular interactive broadcasts to managers of employees with long-term chronic conditions - these upskill managers as to how to manage employees with chronic conditions such as MS, IBS, arthritis, asthma, Crohns and other common conditions.
