H7. Mental Health and Wellbeing

The construction industry often uses robust language and very direct face to face communication in a macho manner that many find offensive. Exit interviews have shown that some professional people, usually from a consultancy background, cannot cope well with this approach and this can be a factor in them leaving. Other personnel from a contracting background will accept this as normal and answer in kind, or even treat colleagues in this robust fashion. Ardmore will work to progressively eliminate the use of unprofessional language including aggressive body language in its working relationships.

Employees are encouraged to seek support either through their line manager or from the HR department.
The support employees will receive, which where appropriate will be practical in nature, will include:

• Listening
• Open and honest conversations
• Change work environment where necessary.

We will great guidance which will include:

• Being confident to raise concerns with employees
• Listening and supporting
• Where necessary making temporary adjustments in the work environment
• Support from HR
• Confidentiality
