H9. Domestic Violence
16 September, 2014
Submitted: 28 April, 2015
Please describe measures you have taken to ensure that an appropriate, safe and sensitive response can be implemented to support your staff in response to experience of stalking, violence or abuse in their lives, which has an effect on people in the workplace.
We published a Domestic Abuse Safeguarding policy in March which contained an 'action card' for managers supporting a member of staff who discloses domestic abuse. We have established a short life working group chaired by the Director of HR&OD which has agreed;
1. To write a specific policy for staff experiencing domestic abuse, discussing with other trusts who have implemented such policies as to what has worked well.
2. To design specific training for those who will be referenced in the policy (eg HR Staff, Psychologists within our Staff Support Service, Occupational Health) as being able to signpost staff to additional resources, on what to look for, what to say, the link with internal and countywide safeguarding reporting etc.
3. To promote awareness amongst managers and staff (in a similar fashion to how we have promoted mental health awareness) with articles, leaflets and posters.
4. To leverage off the countywide work led through the county council on policy development, training and awareness, supporting campaigns as relevant.
