At Jamie Oliver Licensing Limited, we're aware of the impact of having too much salt in the diet, as well as its effects on public health and that's why we've signed up to the Department of Health's F9 Salt Reduction 2017 pledge.
We recognise that we have a part to play in helping to support the public health goal of consuming no more than 6g of salt per day, and we're committed to reducing salt levels in the products we sell.
We have our own internal nutrition standards, of which the Responsibility Deal salt targets are a key element, and we have been working to these targets for more than five years.
At present, Jamie Oliver Licensing Limited has retail products that fall into five of the 76 product categories. If any of these current products don't conform to the renewed targets, we will work with our licensees to review and reformulate products, with the aim of all products meeting the targets by December 2017. We will also ensure that any new innovative retail products we develop are aligned with the new 2017 targets.
It is compulsory that our suppliers provide us with nutritional information and that all our retail products meet the salt targets. This is managed and reviewed by our Technical team with support from our Head of Nutrition, a Registered Nutritionist. We have an internal supplier management system, which we utilise to keep track of all the products that we source and develop from our suppliers for our retail products. Our Licensing and Technical Team, Head of Food Development and Head of Nutrition work closely together during the development of all new retail products to ensure they meet the salt targets.
