P5. Physical Activity Inclusion

Committed since:

1 January, 2013

Delivery plan:

Submitted: 19 December, 2011

The way we will tackle the barriers to participation in physical activity faced by some of the most inactive groups in society is as follows.1) Programme design ensures less physically able individuals can still effectively participate.2) Through partnering to reach specific groups.Programme design: the scheme values daily activity and has three levels of step targets for participants to try and achieve. Fundraising is linked to the ability to reach each level and with the first level set at quite a low level less physically able participants can effectively contribute within a team environment.Partnering: This is being addressed by working with selected partners who target less active groups in society.Activity4charity is running their first 6 week online challenge starting 30th January 2012. A number of the benefitiary charities providing marketing support are using the January event to evaluate the possibilty of rolling out a substantially larger event in June/July in the run up to the Olympics.A larger pre Olympics event is planned to start mid June running up to the opening ceremony.
