Midlands Co-operative Societys occupational health services are currently provided by the NHS Heart of England Foundation Trust. Based in Birmingham, the Trust supports the Society in providing occupational health services to colleagues across all regions and businesses. They provide health advice and guidance to the Society and colleagues on topics such as pre-employment screening, immunisation programmes, health surveillance, referrals for the management of short- and long-term absences, ill health retirement and well-being services. Each month they will run a campaign focusing on a specific health topic. Occupational health referrals are managed by the HR department.If colleagues are referred to an occupational health physician or nurse, they will be directed to a medical centre in Derby, Nottingham, Leicester or Birmingham. The Society also works closely with occupational health services to deliver campaigns designed to raise awareness of offer practical assistance with a particular aspect of health or well-being e.g. raising awareness of World No Tobacco Day.
