Iceland Foods Ltd employs over 23,000 people. The annual sickness rate is 3.4%, which includes short term and long term sick.
Iceland Foods for the past five years has remained in the Top 10 of the “Best Big Companies to Work For in the UK” as independently assessed by the Sunday Times Best Companies survey, and won first place in 2012 and 2014. This achievement was recognised in 2015, when Iceland received a special Best Companies “Lifetime Achievement Award.” Iceland additionally received a Wellbeing award relating to our hardship grants, which provide practical and emotional support to colleagues in need.
All Iceland employees continue to be encouraged to take part in a "Straight Talk Survey" which gathers information on how employees are managed, team well-being and effective communication. The colleague response rate runs at over 90%, which is industry leading. Iceland’s "Talking Shop" for Stores and "Deeside Voice" for Head Office continue to be valuable communication forums.
The culture of care spills from our colleagues to our customers via our Home Delivery and Internet ordering services, which provide a valuable service for many, in particular for our elderly customers; as well as store colleagues offering support for visually impaired customers etc.
Iceland’s Head Office strives to “make things easier for employees” through many valuable services such as participation in the local bus service, subsidised Costa coffee bar, dry cleaning and mail room post services.
