Submitted: 27 April, 2015
Through your physical activity pledges you will be working with employees, customers/consumers and/or local communities. For each group (as applicable) please describe the specific activities or projects you have undertaken over the past year.
For example, employee incentive schemes to promote physical activity, awareness raising activities or improvements to facilites to promote active travel.
We held a staff health & wellbeing event from 13th - 30th March 2015 at all 3 sites. We offered our staff 12 full days of free taster sessions ranging from individual treatments through to exercise classes, health and wellbeing workshops and staff health checks. Some of the physical activities were:
- Free 30 minute session at Jogging on gym
- Strictly Dance class
- Stretch and Relax class
Each year we hold a staff walking challenge.
We hold a regular Strictly Dance class at our Basingstoke site, Pilates and an onsite gym at subsidised rates at our Winchester site. Staff also have discounts to join local gyms and throughout the year we have held taster sessions of various classes.
Online health & well being web pages accessed via the Intranet - Variety of online resources on Physical Exercise information, tools and resources such as 10 min workouts, sports & exercise guides, fitness self assessments, running guides etc.
Our champions help design activity promotions and encourage and signpost staff to various physical activities both in house and in the community.
We operate a Cycle to work scheme - Staff can have savings on purchasing bikes and bike racks and shower facilities are available.
For example, supporting/sponsoring local physical activity programmes, promoting physical activity to customers through website campaigns or in-store materials.
For example, support for community-based physical activity programmes (such as funding, sponsorship or other promotion activity), working with local partners to engage communities is physical activity opportunities.
Please estimate the number of your employees who participated in your workplace physical activity programmes over the last year and explain how you arrived at this estimate.
Has the number of your employees participating in your workplace physical activity programmes increased since last year? If unknown, please explain why.
We would be interested to know if your pledge activity over the last year has delivered a measurable increase in participation in physical activity. If so, please describe and provide an estimate of the level of increase and how you measured this. There is a 2000-character limit when completing this section.
