AB InBev is committed to promoting responsible drinking, including through the marketing of our products, providing information and choice to our consumers, supporting alcohol education and working in partnership with others. Tackling alcohol misuse is a complex challenge which we believe is best done by working in partnership and we have been therefore actively involved in the Public Health Responsibility Deal and engaged in discussions with the Government about a new package of measures to support its Alcohol Strategy.

As a result of these discussions, we have announced that we will no longer produce or sell the 9% ABV 500ml can of Tennent's Super Lager in the UK from the end of 2014. We do not believe that targeting individual products will tackle problem drinking; it is the causes of problem drinking that collectively we need to address. We also believe that most people apply common sense when following the Chief Medical Officer's recommended guidelines for daily alcohol consumption. However, we do acknowledge the concern that has been expressed about a single serve container, such as a can, containing more than the number of units a man is advised regularly to consume on a daily basis. It is for this reason, and in the spirit of our commitment to working in partnership with government, that we took the unilateral decision no longer to produce and sell the 9% ABV 500ml can of Tennent's Super Lager in the UK from the end of 2014.
