H4. Healthier Staff Restaurants

Healthier Staff Restaurants:
Iceland stores do not have canteens or restaurants.
Iceland's Head Office at Deeside, Flintshire, caters for approximately 500 employees who have for many years been offered daily free seasonal fruit. This investment costs the business approximately £1,000 per week.
Water is free and widely available.
The Deeside staff restaurant, which is operated by a team of Iceland professional chefs, provides a wide variety of meal choice, including "healthier options" of daily fresh griddled fish (no crumb or batter), a variety of seasonal vegetables, an extensive salad bar with options of non-mayonnaise items; baked potatoes, wraps or bread sandwiches freshly made without or with butter. Chips are steamed first to reduce the time in the deep frier and have been made larger, so there is less oil pick up in a portion.
Calorie labelling is not currently possible as menus vary each day and food is freshly made
