1 January, 2013

Delivery plan:

Submitted: 31 May, 2012

As part of our commitment to the Responsibility deal ASDA have committed to the Calorie Reduction pledge to help remove calories from the nations daily diet. ASDA has an activity plan to target positive change, not solely restricted to calorie reduction, over the next two years. Our commitment will include a number of activities in relation to product offerings, reformulation and promotions across a wide range of categories. Activity commenced in April 2012. Our commitments include: ASDA is rolling out their FOP labelling system (traffic lights and GDAs) to all (processed) category areas to help support customer understanding of food products that drive higher intakes of calories, fat, saturated fat, sugar and salt; To sit alongside our Reduced Fat range, ASDA will support a Reduced Calorie range across a wide range of product categories. All products will contain 30% fewer calories that their standard equivalent; ASDA will support the development of a range of portion controlled options across bakery and snacking, which are designed to help customers reduce their intake of calories; ASDA will commit to a reformulation plan to reduce fat, saturated fat and salt in own label products with no compromise to taste and quality and continue to support messages that highlight exercise and encourage a balanced diet.
