H4. Healthier Staff Restaurants

As part of our wellness@work programme, launched this year, we have completely overhauled our canteen provision across all of our sites. Working with a newly appointed supplier, Compass, who are also signatories of the responsibility deal, we have worked in partnership to develop a plan of activity.This will include:the provision of clear GDA information for all core meals soldimproved salad bars and healthier optionsloyalty cards for healthier choices including porridge and fruitMeasurements: We plan annual employee surveys and on site spot checks. Also Compass are due to launch 'the source' a new system which will be able to deliver the most up to date, accurate GDA and full nutritional information for over 2,000 dishes. Finally we are in the process of measuring fruit sales and since the launch of our loyalty card have sold 8000 kilos, aiming for 10,000 by the end of the year.In 2012 we will be launching 'Meatfree Mondays', alongside a 5-a-day challenge to encourage employees to remember to eat five portions of fruit and veg a day and to be aware of how much meat they eat. This activity will align with activity supporting Change4Life's bowel cancer awareness campaign.Our range of soft drinks, all of which feature GDAs on pack, is already available free of charge, including bottled water.As part of our wellness@work programme we will also provide on-line resources, including healthy lifestyle tips, downloadable recipes, developed in conjunction with mend. Recipe cards are also being developed to give away in canteens, inlcuding a range of recipes which contain less than 5% fat.Following a successful pilot of lifestyle screenings we plan to roll these out across the business next year so that all employees can benefit from a free lifestyle assessment screening, which will include questions and tips around diet.
