H1. Chronic Conditions Guide and Carers

Employees notifying us that they are suffering from a chronic condition will be treated at all times with respect, dignity and confidentiality and within the bounds of our equal opportunities policy. Our duty of care to them and consideration of the welfare of themselves, other colleagues and visitors will also be paramount, in keeping with the company's health and safety policy. We will support individuals through our occupational health service to ensure they receive the appropriate level of support and assistance, and where we do not have the expertise to assist we will take all reasonable steps to provide this assistance and support via third parties. Where the chronic condition may mean that it is not possible for the individual to regularly attend work, we will seek to make reasonable adjustments at the workplace, or to assist with steps to enable home-working if appropriate to their role. We will also seek a suitable alternative position if such work is available. We will liaise through our OHS service with the appropriate medical specialists to assist our employee, with their written agreement.
