Through your physical activity pledges you will be working with employees, customers/consumers and/or local communities. For each group (as applicable) please describe the specific activities or projects you have undertaken over the past year.
For example, employee incentive schemes to promote physical activity, awareness raising activities or improvements to facilites to promote active travel.
We operate a Cycle to work scheme - in partnership with Halfords, the scheme was open to group employees for one month in 2014 to enable them to make savings on the cost of a bike and safety accessories for cycling to work.
The support centre in Manchester has a gym run by Nuffield Health which our employee can join at a reduced rate (£10/month) . Nuffield Health run regular health and wellbeing session for our employees.
For example, supporting/sponsoring local physical activity programmes, promoting physical activity to customers through website campaigns or in-store materials.
We provided free prize draws to win sets of junior football kits and provided free sports coaching in collaboration with Bradford City FC and Rochdale AFC.
The Co-operative Walking Bus: this is where a group of children who walk to school together, accompanied by two adult volunteers. The Group supports schools wishing to set up a walking bus scheme by supplying free hi-visibility vests, reflective snap bands to reward the children and marketing collateral to promote walking to school, worth up to £1,000.
We supported advertising and provided momentos to finalists at Amateur FA cup competitions;
In addition we supported a week long coaching camp for children in Stornoway; Publicised and provided hospitality for Scottish shinty competition and provided water for a local walking group in Wales; Ran an in-store community vote for a school to win a football kit in Monmouth.
