H5. Smoking Cessation/Respiratory Health

In 2011 we introduced a proactive Stop Smoking programme to all staff. The provisions of the programme include paid prescriptions, counselling, and paid time away from work to attend workplace stop smoking groups and local workshops. All Carlsberg UK workplaces have a volunteer stop smoking coordinator that work with external stop smoking specialists who have been engaged by Carlsberg UK to provide on site support to all of these sites.The Occupational Health Service, provided by our partner Cigna, coordinates the progress of the initiatives and shares good news stories and case studies which are celebrated and published on the intranet and in the company magazine. This not only raises awareness of our employees successes, but drives referrals to the programme from other employees.Respiratory health is monitored through a number of systems including absence referral data and health surveillance for those at risk in the workplace. Respiratory health information is available to all employees through the intranet wellbeing site and health promotion leaflets. In the next 12 months we plan to add to the existing support package by introducing additional health checks to monitor and support smokers who wish to stop, including smokerlyser access and lung function checks at our annual health and wellbeing days.
