Working in partnership with higher and further education
Working closely to deliver Aquafit qualifications as part of the active universities project, resulting in a programme of aqua CPDs and classes being delivered across participating pools. For example 6 pools within the North East region, South East region has delivered an Aquafit course resulting in:
Seven new qualified Aquafit instructors who have agreed to deliver weekly one hour sessions as part of the active universities project.
Birmingham University in the West Midlands region are using British Gas Swimfit as a core offer to students, staff and community with swim buddies to help new participants feel comfortable in the pool environment. The scheme has helped to retain and attract new swimmers.

Working in partnership with county sport partnerships
Hartlepool and Middlesbrough in the North East region were both successfully awarded aquatic sportivate bids for new projects including young parent sessions, learn to swim and develop skills and aquatic fitness.The Big Splash has enabled the Sports Trust, The Sports Foundation, the Swimming Club, the City Council and the partnership development managers in the West Midlands to work together on a city wide project for the first time ever.Sportivate water polo in the east region is one of the first projects to reach completion. Twenty Year 12 and 13 students have enjoyed coaching and are looking to move into regular activity.

Working towards improved workforce development
Lincolnshire County Council in the east midlands region has funded 100 UKCC Teacher places.In salford in the North West region have 16 new qualified Aquafit instructors.Kirklees Active Leisure in the North East region has re-structured the workforce to provide an aquatics manager at each of the nine facilities and a corporate aquatics manager to lead major projects.

Working on the health agenda
Tees Valley Sport in the North East region has launched their sport in the workplace website section which is being used by nhs workplace health specialists as a resource for their workplace health advocates.DC Leisure in Amber Valley (East Midland region) won the FIA Spark of Innovation Award, for their programme which included the GP Recommendation project.Three DC Leisure sites in Amber Valley (East Midland region) have run two new aqua jog/circuits classes for the past 15 months and have increased attendance by 13,893.B-active Leicester in the East Midland region secured funding for 396 women to have six free swimming lessons over the next three years. In its first two weeks, 65 women signed up.Nottingham in the East Midlands regions are working with age concern who have given them a grant to enable free swimming lessons for over 55s.The successful GP referral programme in waveney in the ast region is now being launched at Great Yarmouth PCT.The public health team in Cambridgeshire in the east region have attended the aquatics programme to learn about the health benefits of aquatic activity, and how to use the British Gas swimfit tool as part of GP referring.Cambridgeshire health trainers in the east region have agreed to use British Gas Swimfit as a signposting tool for exercise referral and will monitor use.Big Splash, swimming offers and British Gas Swimfit will be advertised on the NHS Cambridgeshire websites for the public and staff.
