BaxterStorey, the UKs leading independent contract caterer, has signed the Salt Catering Pledge: Training Kitchen Practice to support and enable consumers to reduce their dietary salt intake. BaxterStorey is dedicated to providing its clients and customers with wholesome, nutritious food. Every day, across more than 640 locations in the UK, BaxterStoreys chefs prepare fantastic meals using fresh, locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients. Our trained chefs already focus on dietary needs and our Chef Academy is introducing into its modules training to ensure vegetables and starchy carbohydrates are cooked without salt being added. Furthermore, our training team are drawing up guidance notes for circulation among all our chefs to draw their attention to the importance of reducing salt to improve healthy hearts and to review their current kitchen practices to further reduce salt usage. Finally, location managers are being encouraged to discuss with their clients the removal of salt cellars from the tables in the restaurant and replace with alternative methods of availability for the customer when required.
