H4. Healthier Staff Restaurants

Please decribe how you and your caterers have encouraged healthier restaurants/vending outlet/buffets (as applicable) for your staff over the last year. There is a 2000-character limit when completing this section.
Across the UK Grocery division of Associated British Foods our businesses provide a broad range of catering facilities for staff, from catered restaurants to vending machines. Water is freely available across all sites and programmes are underway in all businesses to ensure the provision of healthy eating options to all staff members. This will include the provision of salads and fruit (either free, or at a price lower than an alternate pudding) and the removal of table salt from canteen facilities. Currently per portion GDA or calorie labelling is provided on some but not all menu options and typically can be found on pre-packaged food options. We will engage with all our catering suppliers to request the provision of clear nutritional labelling within menu options across all sites, though there will be challenges associated with the provision of such data where small scale local suppliers are used to provide hot food within some site canteen facilities. We are also working with our catering suppliers to offer healthier food choices to all our employees.
