P4. Physical Activity in the Workplace

At Allianz we encourage and support our employees to lead active lives. We already offer a variety of different activities and promotions around physical activity including subsidised and discounted gym membership, along side our cycle to work scheme.We promote the recommended government guidelines regarding physical activity and this year some of our sites have run various pedometer challenges including the activity4chairity challenge. These are all based on around trying to achieve 10,000 steps a day.Our Q3 theme is called Active Lifestyles and we have provided our 58 health champions with a toolkit, which includes suggestions and ideas to help employees increase their activity levels in the workplace, such as talking the stairs instead of the lift, or parking the car further away from the office door. We also included information ideas to become more active at home such as giving them a 10 minute workout routine and suggested things such as walking the dog or doing some gardening.We have held lunch time events, including local gym promotions and have had experts in giving advice on exercises.Across our sites we have a variety of walking clubs and running groups in place, as well as on site classes, such as Zumba, Pilates and Yoga.To celebrate the Olympics we held various site events for employees which included active games and fun team sporting events.We also use our intranet page, internal Cover magazine and notice board to further support physical activity.Future Plans:We will continue to promote the benefits of physical activity to our employees and provide them with the tools to do this in the workplace.
