Revised wording for the F5(c) salt catering procurement pledge

The wording of the F5(c) Salt Catering Procurement pledge has been updated.  The pledge previously stated that it needed to be achieved by the end of 2012.

To reflect that it continues to be relevant and that signatories are expected to achieve the pledge within a year of sign up, the wording has been amended as follows:

“We recognise that achieving the public health goal of consuming no more than 6g of salt per person per day will necessitate further action across the whole industry, Government, NGOs and individuals.

We will support and enable customers to reduce their dietary salt intake by taking the following actions in respect of procurement of products:

  • we will meet the 2012 salt targets for at least 50% of the products we procure (by volume of products) within one year of sign up. We will aim to increase this over time and report on progress year on year.”

  1. reducing and limiting salt and putting that into practice is so important as excess salt has so many known to all comorbidities but when this moves into guidelines to be follwed and applied that s effective strategic thinking and practice that will pay off positively as soon as implemented
