Everyone is invited to join in and take part in the family astronaut show or team up with friends for our school workshops and other activities to celebrate Tim Peake’s mission and the people that make living in space possible.
Destination Space has already reached over 700,000 people across the UK, providing the opportunity to learn about Tim’s mission and the people behind it through hands-on experiments, rocket demonstrations, space equipment and much more.
Families and schools can join Destination Space through a calendar of family shows and live events running throughout 2016, and has already included special events for Tim’s launch and spacewalk, meet-the-expert sessions and an exciting astronaut show that engages and inspires family audiences with his mission. Special curriculum-linked activities for school children aged 5-14 will be running in Science centres throughout 2016 whilst Tim is in space and on his return to Earth.
Destination Space is a two-year national programme to inspire curiosity and engage young minds with the wonders of human spaceflight and to explain the importance of the science, technology, engineering and mathematical skills that make spaceflight possible.
The Destination Space programme is being delivered by 20 partner science centres across the UK. It is led by the Association for Science and Discovery Centres in collaboration with the National Space Centre in Leicester, Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre in Cheshire and the Science Museum in London.
