The Northern Ireland Multiple Deprivation Measure 2010 is the official measure of spatial deprivation for Northern Ireland. Prior to 26 May 2010, the Northern Ireland Multiple Deprivation Measure 2005 was the official measure of spatial deprivation for Northern Ireland. See below for more detail.

NI Multiple Deprivation Measure 2005

The Northern Ireland Multiple Deprivation Measure (NI MDM) 2005, commissioned by NISRA from the Social Disadvantage Research Centre at the University of Oxford, was published in May 2005.

The consultation period for the NIMDM 2005 ended on 29th October 2004.

Super Output Areas were developed by NISRA to improve the reporting of small area statistics.
