Where was the project located?

The works were in the vicinity of Switch Island at the ends of the M57 and M58 motorways.

Why was the scheme needed?

Local roads in the vicinity of the M57/M58 Switch Island suffer from serious and unpredictable congestion.  This scheme will provide information to drivers who can then make more informed route choices, with the potential to avoid congestion and improve journey times.

What work was carried out?

Works involved the installation of Variable Message Signs at the northbound end of the M57 and at the westbound end of the M58.

How did this benefit road users?

Road users will benefit from reduced daily congestion, reduced journey times for the travelling public and a boost to the economy.
