Where was the project located?

The works were between M6 junctions 27 and 28, west of Chorley.

Why was the scheme needed?

The works were needed as there were three areas of the motorway between these two junctions that have no CCTV coverage.  This provision will enable early identification of incidents and congestion.

What work was carried out?

Works involved the installation of 7 CCTV cameras between M6 junctions 27 and 28.


How did this benefit road users?

As part of the Pinch Point Programme, this scheme aims to:

- help to reduce daily congestion.
- reduce journey times for the travelling public.
- improve safety.
