2001 Census data tables

How to get standard data tables

1. The first step for getting any data is to download the standard output table finder and search the list of tables for what you want.

2. If you want to make sure a table contains the elements you need, download the table outlines for either Key Statistics or Standard Tables (including armed forces). You can also download Census Area Statistics (CAS) outlines from the CAS page.

3. For both Key Statistics and Standard Tables (for England and Wales as a whole), search this website using the table code and the table name eg “KS17”. Choose from the selected results, and download the reference table.

4. For all other tables, or if you need help finding exactly what you need, contact Census Customer Services. They can forward you a link to any online tables, or can send you any offline tables in an appropriate format.

The three table types are broadly comparable to differently named datasets produced in previous censuses. Caution should be taken when comparing data from different censuses.
