Employment up 46,000 compared with the previous quarter

Comparing June to August 2014 with March to May 2014, there was an increase in employment and a large fall in unemployment.

Comparing June to August 2014 with March to May 2014, the number of people in employment increased by 46,000 (to reach 30.76 million), the number of unemployed people fell by 154,000 (to reach 1.97 million) and the number of people not in the labour force (economically inactive) aged from 16 to 64 increased by 113,000 (to reach 9.03 million).
